Key takeaways from ‘The M-Factor: Shredding the Silence About Menopause’

Our screening of ‘The M-Factor: Shredding the Silence About Menopause’ raised some interesting discussion points, and allowed us to share our challenges and experiences with menopause and perimenopause. I’ve summed up the most important takeaways from our discussion below:

  • The importance of talking openly about menopause. Knowledge is power—understanding what to expect and why we are experiencing certain changes helps us navigate symptoms better, be kinder to ourselves, and fear less what society may think of us.

  • Many of us feel young, yet society perceives us as aging. This needs to change. Since menopausal women are the fastest-growing demographic in the world, we are society, and it’s time we reclaim our own narrative.

  • The struggle to find informed doctors who can discuss hormone replacement therapy (HRT) without bias—whether for or against it. Too often, we don’t know if we can fully trust their recommendations, which leaves us uncertain about our options.

  • The need for community and support. There is so much left to explore—sexuality, physical and neurological symptoms, daily coping strategies.
